TMP709: Is there a protective diode between the OT * pin and the power supply to prevent ESD damage?

Part Number: TMP709

Hello,

My customer has a question about TMP709.

[Q]

Is there a protective diode between the OT * pin and the power supply to prevent ESD damage?

Best Regards,

Kaede Kudo

  • Dear Kaede Kudo -
To answer this question, I will need to contact design folks - please allow for at least one day to get back to you.
  • Hello Kaede,

The ESD ratings for the device are listed in the datasheet from a manufacturing perspective. As for powered ESD events, I will need to check the ESD diodes. However that being said, there are non-ESD events also that can when applied and if they cross the maximum ratings of the device can damage the device. Neccessary ESD protections outside of the device must be maintained.

I will get the information on the ESD protection for powered device between OT* and power supply shortly.
  • Hi Kaede,

OT pin 3 is an open drain output and does not contain a protective diode to VCC pin 5. In Section 6.1 Absolute Maximum Ratings, the OT pin 3 is not bound by VCC pin 5 voltage. This would not be possible if there were a protective diode.

    Thanks,
    Ren
