DRV5015: omni polar hall effect sensor

Part Number: DRV5015
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV425

Hi Team,

My customer is looking for a omni-polar hall effect sensor with very high sensitivity (the magnet disc they use is with 2.8mT at 20mm distance.) Could only find DRV5015 with such sensitivity but it is a unipolar sensor. Do we have any omni-polar sensor with such sensitivity?

Thanks

  • Hello SK Loo,

Thank you for using the TI forum.

If you need an omnipolar Hall switch specifically, the closest option we have for your requirements is the DRV5033FA, but that has a typical BOP of 3.5mT and a max BOP of 6.8mT.  So, this may not quite work for you unless you can change the 20mm to move the magnet a little closer.

One other possible solution may be to use the DRV425 (fluxgate sensor), which has a highly sensitive device with a linear output based on magnetic field, and has a full scale range of ±2mT, so it would be able to detect your magnet at that low field, but the the output would saturate at ±2mT, so it may detect your magnet a little bit early (which may or may not be a problem based on your application).

Please let us know if you have any questions regarding either of these methods.
