LDC1000EVM: LDC1000EVM

Part Number: LDC1000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1101, MSP430FR2355, MSP430F5529

Hello

I have been working of LDC1000EVM  sensor and I have been facing some problems while working on the methodology of it.

as it is mentioned in the LDC1000EVM Datasheet that is is inductance to digital convertor which means that the ldc is reading or measuring an inductance I just wanted to understand why it is written after that ADC  that is going to save the digital data in the Proximity register.

  • Hi Sherif,

Are you confused about the function of the proximity register? Or something else?

Also, the LDC1000 is not recommended for new designs. The LDC1101 is the closest match for the LDC1000. You can find other inductive sensing devices using the LDC device selection guide.

  • Hello Kristin

Thank you for you kind response it really helped. but right now  i am facing a problem in connecting the LDC1000 to my Mcu MSP430FR2355. I am trying to read the data without breaking down the chips to get the LDC part by itself

I am willing to use the external USB of MSP430F5529 which is built in inside the sensor to communicate using the UART with another MSP430 as i can't debug the MSP430F5529 which is built in inside the LDC with the code composer so i am using all the LDC_Evm as an external device connected via UART with the MSP430FR2355 to get the data and read it from texas IDE "code composer".

Thank you for your kind response. Looking forward for  your reply.

    Best regards,
    Sherif Ismail

  • Hello Sherif,

Could you clarify what problem you having with the debugger setup? The setup you described should work.

  • Hi Sherif,

I haven't heard from you in a while, so I'm assuming you were able to resolve your issue. If this is not the case please feel free to reply to this thread or post a new question.
