LDC2114EVM: How to make evm work wtih sensor board B

Part Number: LDC2114EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC2114

Hello,

This is Fang from GREE of Zhuhai city.

I am turning LDC2114 EVM with GUI software tool.

Register and configuration have been wroten, but there is no feedback from the EVM. Coil B is used. Should LED be turned on if one sensor work when I press the coil ?

How can I konw where is the problem.?

The attachment are my parameter , plz have check

 thank you

  • Hello,

Yes, you should see the blue LEDs on the EVM react when you approach the coils with a metal target. I see your problem. On the Configuration tab under the "Reset Mode" section, the device is set to configuration mode. In this mode only I2C communication occurs; the LDC does not measure the channels. You'll need to set this to active processing to use the EVM. If you want to change any device settings, you'll need to switch to configure device again.

    Best Regards,

  • Hello,thanks for your replying,

    1. so should I change the RESET value 0x01, jump out RESET mode? what value it should be if 12C will not be used?

    2. Any other register value wrong besides RESET ?

ps: I would set to active processing after chang. thank you pointing out.

  • Kristin Jones,

thank you, that is evm brd problem. It works, I change the new brd.

One more question, how can I keep the register value after power off ? I want to keep "OPOL" register staying "0X0F"

But, it reset to "0XFF" when I turn on/off the EVM brd.

    thank you .

  • Hello,

The LDC2114 registers will all be rewritten to their default values after power cycling. The LDC2114 requires an MCU if custom register values are needed.

About your point, I still have doubt. There are steps I made:
    1. I chage LC_DIVIDER`s value 0X02(now is 0X02) to 0X04 with GUI tool, it works, and the value I read is correct.
    2. But register LC_DIVIDER change back to0X02 (but not default value 0X03) after power on/off. It looks that I can not rewrite.
I try the other registers, the same situation. I am sure I write successfully because I read before power off.

    My questions are:
    1. Shold all registers refresh the default value after EVM brd power on again? Or it just change back to before value not default?
    2. Your mention need MCU if I want. So can some register`s vaule be fixed from factory ? Value will be kept,we dont want to change with I2C.
    3. What different between “Registers”tap and “Configureation”tap ?

    Thank you
