CCS/TIDEP-0092: Uniflash

Part Number: TIDEP-0092
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642, UNIFLASH, AWR1642BOOST

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello:

According to the xWR16xx mmWave Demo, I encountered the following problems when running the AWR1642 BOOST:

1. In 4.3 Flashing CCS debug firmware, after opening Uniflash, which one should I select in New Configuration, AWR 1642 chip or EVM of AWR 1642 BOOST(see figure1)?

2. Also in this section, after filling in the port number, go back to the Program interface. The tutorial says that you need to restart the device and click Load Images again. Does it mean that I should turn on the board after power off? Besides, clicking on Load Images often results in loading failure (see figure 2,3), is that because the previous successful loading port is occupied, so it cannot reload after closing? If so, how can the occupied port be released? Or how to solve this problem?

Looking forward to reply!

Thanks!

  • If you have an AWR1642BOOST EVM, then please select "AWR1642BOOST" in Uniflash.

When flashing the device, you need to make sure the device is set to flashing mode. This is done by putting jumpers on SOP0 and SOP2. After this is done, power off and then power on your device again. Your device certainly needs to be powered on in order to flash any application binaries to your device.

After you have correctly set your device and powered on, then confirm the "Application/UART" COM port in Windows Device Manager and set it accordingly in Uniflash. Then select the binary file you want to flash to your device and select "Load Image."

Once the flashing process is complete, remove SOP2 and again power cycle your device. You are now ready to launch the on-target application.
