I'm working with a customer who I'm assisting on the TDA4V Mid processor portion. However, they asked me about the typical and maximum power consumption of the module documented in the TIDA-01597 reference design. They noted that the documentation currently shows 6W each@ 12V peak. Is this correct?

Is the power question in regard to the PGA460 or the TDA4V?

The TIDA-01597 uses the PGA460-Q1 Ultrasonic Sensor Driver and Signal Conditioner, typically used for automotive park assist applications. A single PGA460-Q1 device operates at a voltage between 6-28V, and draws 12mA of current. Thus, power consumption per ultrasonic sensor module can range between 72mW to 336mW depending on the supply voltage.

The PGA460-Q1 EVM GUI software includes a Power Budget Calculator, which can also factor in additional power saving device features such as low-power mode or the ability to load switch power to/from the device.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm pretty sure that this has only to do with the PGA460-Q1 as we have a separate exercise involving the loading on the TDA4V. I'll relay this information. Thanks again,
