IWR1443: frameCfg: Frame periodicity

Hi,

When I set Frame periodicity greater than 1350 in frameCfg command, sensor does not start and gives below error:

mmwDemo:/>sensorStart

Error -1

I am using high accuracy FW with profile_2db. I want frame periodicity of >2500. What is the reason sensor does not allow frame delay >2000. Is there any way to do this.

To determine why an error is occurring please run the demo in ccsdebug mode and check the error code. Details for interpreting the error code can be found here:

Hi Amanda,

After running code in ccsdebug mode I got error code as -203816642. Decoding error I found:

Error type (bits 31:16) = -3110, which on further decoding gives MMWAVE_ERRNO_BASE (-3100) and MMWAVE_EFRAMECFG (MMWAVE_ERRNO_BASE -10)

Sub system error code (bits 15:2) is RL_RET_CODE_FRAME_PERIOD_INVAL_IN (79U)

This error comes When I set Frame periodicity greater than 1350 in frameCfg command.My question is how to set frame periodicity greater than 1350.

Hello Akshay,

If you reference the error code you can see that the only valid frame periods are between 100us and 1.342 seconds. The firmware doesn't support periods greater than 1.342 seconds.

Can you share why you need a greater period?

Hi Amanda,

I need greater period to transfer data over USART. I am transferring 4k complex ADC samples over USART. With the current frame period, I am able to transmit less than 2k samples only.

Hello,

For raw ADC capture UART is not optimal due to the max speed. Please consider using another interface such as CAN or LVDS. The frame period can not be increased beyond what the DFP supports.

Hello Akshay,

You can implement ADC data transfer using any of the interfaces however the speed of the interface will limit the valid sampling, chirp and frame configuration you can use.
