DRV5055-Q1: sensing voltage level is affected by rotation speed

Part Number: DRV5055-Q1

HI,

We select DRV5055A3 to sense a ring magnet with 2-pole. Two sensor are putted away from 90 degree around the ring magnet. Therefore, we can get sine wave and cosine wave properly.

However, the peak of wave is variable with the rotation speed. Lower Vp-p is appear in higher rotation speed (1000 rpm), and high Vp-p is appear in lower rotation speed (100 rpm).

I do not know how to explain this phenomenon?

thanks.

  • Hello Steven,

Thank you for using the TI forum. This could be a result of a high capacitance on the device output. For example, if you are using an output filter, such as this one:

If the capacitor is too large then the voltage may not reach it's max/min at high rotation speeds.  I recommend testing without output capacitance to see if this is the problem, then you can calculate and use a smaller capacitor in the final design if needed/desired.
