TMP117: TMP117 for battery learning machine applicaiton

Part Number: TMP117

hi Team

does TMP117 require calibration? observed that the temp report is off and takes time for it to become stable.

Thanks

  • Hi John,

Thanks for posting on the sensors forum!

The TMP117 should not require calibration, unless that calibration is to remove external effects due to layout or other heat sources.

Here's a couple suggestions on what you may be observing:

    • If your TMP117 and test fixture are being moved from one area to another (even if those areas are believed to be the same temperature), you will see some shift in measured values. In this case the device does require some time to reach thermal equilibrium with the surrounding environment.
    • If the TMP117 is located next to a heat generating IC, then that will affect the final equilibrium point. It will likely take a few seconds for that IC to reach its operating temperature, and some additional time for the TMP117 to follow it.
    • Most testing environments are not stable to the level of 0.1 C, even if the reference is more accurate than that. So what you are seeing could also be related to the actual temperature of your test setup.

Let me know if there are any questions. I can elaborate on any of these points if you think it could be helpful.

    Best Regards,
