FDC1004EVM: Not Connected. But works on different computer with same sensing solution version

Part Number: FDC1004EVM

I have read through multiple threads with similar issues to my own, but none of the suggestions seemed to work for me.

When I plug in the piece to my USB drive, the green light shows up and my computer recognizes the part. However, when I open up the GUI, although it says "Ready", it also says "Not connected". I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the GUI several times. I have tried all of the compatibility modes and have run it as administrator. I have also tried to restart my computer several times. However, nothing seems to work. I know the circuit is working since we tested it on someone else's computer, but it does not seem to work on my computer. What can be causing this?

Hello Cheli,

If you go into device manager, can you verify that the EVM is showing up as "EVM?" If it is not, then you may be having some issues with the driver installation.

Yes, it shows up in the device manager as EVM

Hi Cheli,

Have you tried plugging the EVM into different USB ports? Sometimes this can solve the problem. Also, what version of Windows are you running?

Hi Kristin,

Yes, I have. I have also tried every compatibility mode for each of the ports and i have checked that EVM appears in the device manager for each of the ports.

Hi Cheli,

Thanks for clarifying your OS. It shouldn't be a problem for the GUI. Have you tried putting the MSP430 into BSL mode and reflashing the firmware? You can find instructions for that here: https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors/f/1023/t/671134?FDC1004EVM-FDC1004EVM

Hi Kristin,

The link to the MSP430 firmware upgrader does not work. I could not find it elsewhere on the website either. Can you please send what I need to download?
