Hi,

i'm from Honlex Taiwan.

My problem is some of the OPT3001 have bad smt process and have some contact pad get shorting.

but the OPT3001EVM test result is good and pass the test.

how do i pick up the bad smt part when use the OPT3001EVM?

Hi James,

I am not understanding the question "how do i pick up the bad smt part when use the OPT3001EVM?" Can you please elaborate what you are trying to do? Are you trying to test for issues in your production? This sounds like a manufacturing issue that pads are being shorted rather than an issue with the IC.

Hi Alex,

thanks for the quickly reply.

I am trying to test the OPT3001 shorted issues in my production with OPT3001EVM(with some modification, connect my part to OPT3001EVM with OPT3001EVM Evaluation Software (Rev. A) for the OPT3001 sensor testing).

But I found that OPT3001 sensor works fine even with the pad shorted. is it possible? and how to fix this problem?

Hi James,

Which pads are shorted? If VCC is shorted to GND device will not function. If I2C pins are shorted to VCC or GND I2C will not work. Shorting ADDR pin should not stop the device from powering up. Shorting INT pin may or may not impact device depending on the pin.
