LDC2114: High Current Draw in Low Power Mode

Part Number: LDC2114

Hi,

My customer is evaluating the LDC2114 using the sensor portion of the LDC2114EVM, but they are seeing much higher current consumption than expected. They are measuring by replacing R37 with a DMM and are reading ~900uA. Most of the settings (attached) are default, but they enabled CH0 and have LPWR pulled low.

Could you please review the settings for any potential causes? I will recommend to try measuring with a shunt resistor as well in case there's an issue with the setup.

Thanks,

Antonio

  • Hi Antonio,

It would be good to double-check their current measurement with another ammeter. This is definitely much higher than expected for the low power mode. Can you clarify how they've pulled LPWRB low? If they are only using the LDC portion of the EVM, it would be good to see schematics of the new connections they've made.

Can you also clarify what sensors they have connected to the LDC2114? The sensor will affect the current draw of the LDC, but it shouldn't cause the current to increase this much.

    Best Regards,
