Yes, omnipolar means that either pole of a magnet should exhibit a response from the device. That said, not all the of the DRV5032 family is omnipolar. See the table below for a quick reference of your chosen device's setup. Also, many of our devices are open drain. If this is the case, they would need a pull up resistor to VCC to function correctly. See here:
Prior to saying the device is not working, would it be possible to share which device you are using, and a schematic of the device setup?
