Hi,
I was doing some test in oscilloscope to discover the maximum vpp that the BOOSTXL-PGA460 can supply to my transducer. I was using a 12V source and usb, suddenly my notebook shut down for no reason. After that, the MSP-EXP430F5529LP never turned on again but the BOOSTXL-PGA460 and the daughtercard works normaly. What should i do?

Hi Alexandre,

It's unclear if the computer shutdown had an impact on the MSP430 board. If you have the PGA460 working normally then please let us know if you have any questions in regards to PGA460. If there are any questions in regards to MSP430 I recommend using troubleshooting techniques on debugging the MSP430 board.

I am going to transfer the thread to the MSP430 team to help you with the MSP430 board launchpad board.

According to your description, MSP-EXP430F5529LP never turned on again.

You can test whether the PC can detect MSP-EXP430F5529LP and download code is normal.

Before you connected the 12V supply, did you ensure the jumper at J7 was removed / configured as described in the Standard power mode in "Table 1. Power Mode Jumper Position" of the User's Guide ( www.ti.com/.../slau659 )

The out of box jumper position connects the 5V supply from the USB to the on-board boost circuit. If you try to connect an external supply the device while this jumper is installed, the board is then fighting to supply both the USB boosted 7.2V and external voltage of 12V at VPWR.

Where did you supply the external 12V? You can either connect the external supply at J5 or J7-pin1.

Yes, i ensure that J7 was configured as described in the Standard power mode in "Table 1. Power Mode Jumper Position" of the User's Guide. I supplied at J5.

Hi Alex,

As Johnson indicated, can you confirm whether the PC is still able to detect MSP-EXP430F5529LP for it to be flash programmed again?

When you connect the LaunchPad to the PC's USB port, the Windows Device Manager should list at least two COM ports in the Ports (COM & LPT) category: "MSP Debug Interface" and "MSP Application UART1". If you do not see these items listed, then your LaunchPad and/or debugger may be damaged, and you will need to order a replacement.

You can also go to https://dev.ti.com/ to see if the LaunchPad is detectable by the web version of Uniflash.

It is important to determine how the LaunchPad was damaged so that the same issue does not happen again when replaced. If you have followed jumper setting and power connection guidelines of the PGA460-Q1 EVM User's Guide, there should not have been a hardware failure. Before you power on your external 12V supply next time, ensure there is no continuity between the 12V connection and the 3.3V or 5V pins to verify the power supplies are not shorted to one another.
