AWR1642: Image loading failed: Not able to connect to serial port. Recheck COM port selected and/or permissions.

Part Number: AWR1642
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, TIDA-020004,

Hi

I designed a board based on the TIDA-020004 reference design and I can't program the board using the UniFlash getting this error:

Image loading failed: Not able to connect to serial port. Recheck COM port selected and/or permissions.

Board is in programming mode by installing the jumper on J3 and I'm using a PL2303TA USB to TTL Serial Cable to connect the board to the PC. COM port number from the device manager has been entered in the UniFlash. Also, I checked all the voltage nodes on the board and all of them are ok. Please help me.

Thanks in advance

  • Hello Ali,

Can you confirm if the PL2303TA is operating at 3.3V level and can be used for standard UART interface?

The error you are getting seems to indicate the Uniflash application is not able to get access to the COM port. There might be some permissions preventing the access. Is any other application on the PC able to access the COM port?

    Regards,

    Vivek

  • Hello Vivek,

I checked the TX and RX voltage on the PL2303TA with a voltmeter and it's about 3.3V (3.3V for Rx and 3.5V for TX).
The COM port is accessible using Serial Port Utility and UniFlash can easily access the AWR1642BOOST. Also, I tested the PL2303TA by connecting the TX pin to the RX pin and the data transfer seems to be fine.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I was able to solve the problem by changing the PL2303TA converter with an FT232 converter. It's working perfectly fine now.

    Best Regards
