AWR1642BOOST: TIDEP 0092

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642, TM4C1294NCPDT

I am currently working on the AWR1642BOOST using the reference design TIDEP 0092. Kindly help in answering the following queries:

1) The bandwidth of the module is mentioned 76-81 GHz, i.e., coverage of 4 GHz bandwidth, but according to WPC, Govt. of India, the available bandwidth is only 1 GHz from 76-77 GHz. So can you tell how to control or limit the bandwidth to 76-77 GHz?

2) I am trying to replicate the reference design of AWR1642BOOST, ie., TIDEP 0092, is their a need to burn a firmware in the board after building or since the AWR1642 IC - www.ti.com/.../AWR1642 , as mentioned in the data sheet comes with a firmware burned, their is no need. At the end I want the board to communicate with the SDK properly on a host computer.

3) Is the Heat sink supposed to be mounted only on the point of contact of IC at the bottom layer, kindly confirm.

4) In the reference design TIDEP 0092, I want the output as an ethernet interface instead of micro-USB, the IC- TM4C1294NCPDT, has only been used for the usb in the AWR1642BOOST module. Is their a need to burn the IC with a different Firmware or some changes/configuration required, so that the output is available at the pins to communicate with. Also is this way to integrate the ethernet port correct or enough- e2e.ti.com/.../761863. kindly confirm

  • Hello Harkrishan,

    Please find the answers below:

    1. You could set your chirp slope accordingly so as to limit the bandwidth to 1 GHz.

    2. Yes, the firmware already resides in the ROM, but you need to download the patch if required.

    3. Please refer to the AWR1642BOOST user guide, which highlights the heat sink area.

We will get back to you on the 4th bullet.

    Thanks,

    Ishita

  • Hello Harkrishan,

For ethernet connection you need to have ethernet PHY as well on the board not just burning new firmware is enough.

And for updating firmware you need to raise a different thread to TM4C1294 forum.
