If there are going to be currents capable of producing a large enough magnetic field, then it would be necessary to avoid placing the device near those signals (unless it is what you wish to detect).
You may place the sensor within some sort of ferromagnetic shielding provided that the magnet is also within the same space.
As far as design guidelines, please meet the recommended decoupling. Placement, package type, and sensitivity variation needed will depend largely on the magnet used and the mechanical constraints of your system. The sensor will detect magnetic fields with the component that is directed through the top of the package. Polarity should be considered when selecting a unipolar sensor.
It will be necessary to determine the magnetic flux density at each target distance in your application. This can be done using many available online calculators such as the one available here
