IWR6843: Comparing to 24G products

Hi,

We've found there are several 24G radar solutions based on Infineon's products and our client needs a list comparing 24G solutions with ours that are based on 60G. Would you please help us to elaborate some key points that we can persuade our client not to choose competitors' solutions based on Infineon's 24G or 60G products?

What we could propose are:

1. their existing solutions lack the ability of better angle information since their devices have less than 2 receive antennas

2. their range resolution is worse than ours since the available bandwidth is 2G

But the price of their devices is unbelievable and just $3.xx for 1K.

It would be really appreciated that if you guys could point out some intrinsic flaws about its center frequency or their design philosophy. This is urgent and a headache problem that everyone using TI's solution will have to face when going to the market.

It would help to know what exact features are looked at to do a fair comparison. As you may be aware Ti's mmWave devices provide on chip capability for post processing of RF signals and decision making, This enables numerous standalone applications and ease of design.

It may further help to narrow down what kind of applications you are trying to use TI's mmWave sensors in.

Thanks for your great answer which helps a lot.

We are competing a large project for smart home in which appliances in every room are controlled by a radar via BLE or WiFi. For the bedding room, vital signs and sleep monitoring are supported. In addition, intrusion detection is also supported for the whole environment.

Our competitor utilizes a bunch of the low price 24G sensors to complete with centralized solution, which is still much cheaper than ours per room.

All of our product lines are basically human activities related applications and we’ve been seeing many Infineon solutions in these days. Their prices are unbelievably competitive for simple cases and still competitive for complicated cases.

Would you and your team please give more suggestions about this scenario from the tech perspective or any other perspective?

Hello

Single sensor that fits multiple applications and scalable portfolio for easy portability across various device platforms should help for building an ecosystem of sensors with varying features with common platform.

This is where one time development can be reused across the wide range of 60Ghz devices and antenna configurations.

Application specific information may help in further determining how the portfolio helps.
