DRV5032: Magnet

Part Number: DRV5032

When the applied magnetic flux density exceeds the BOP threshold, the device outputs a low voltage.

Are there any similar devices that output a high voltage when the applied magnetic flux density exceeds the BOP threshold?

We are wanting a smaller package than SOT-23 as well that is still agonistic to N and S.

We are only looking for N and don't have to worry about the direction of the magnet.

Thanks!

  • Hi JDJ,

All of the latches will have a similar magnetic response, meaning When the applied magnetic flux density exceeds the BOP threshold, the device outputs a low voltage.  Maybe what you are looking for instead is a switch, take a look at the DRV5032:

In page14 of the datasheet, the output of the unipolar versions are described.

  • For the unipolar options on page 14, they are all push pull.

Do you see any problems with flipping the transistors in the figure below? I know n-mos generally can't pull to a true high and a p-mos generally can't have a true low, but if this is connected to a MCU then the threshold may be able to handle it.

  • Hi,

The picture dint make it, can you repost? Yes, if connected to an MCU just verify that you wont violate the LOW/HIGH digital thresholds. On page 7 of the datasheet you will see "PUSH-PULL OUTPUT DRIVER" specification. Verify this is ok with your MCU.

  • I have reattached the picture.

Using the table and using the below diagram, the minimum voltage for the input voltage of the MCU, would be (Vcc-0.35-Vth) and as long as this is above the threshold of the MCU then it should be fine?

  • JDJ,

I wouldn't recommend this, it would be best to try to place a logic gate on the output if you are tring to combine OUT1/2. The open drain output on OUT1 is a NMOS.
