FDC1004: Liquid level measurements using TIDA-00317 reference design

Part Number: FDC1004
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00317,

I am currently using the TIDA-00317 reference design along with the FDC1004QEVM board.

I experienced a situation where the liquid levels would take approximately 5 minutes to drop to the correct level when water was removed from the beaker.  However, when the beaker would fill up the levels would display correctly in a matter of seconds.  The problem was constant until I  removed the sensor board along with the double sided tape and laid it out flat on the table.  After not bein able to reproduce the problem I went ahead and folded the sensor tail along with the board and reattached it.  I have not been able to reproduce the problem since then.  Any ideas as to what may have caused the problem?   I have the sensor attached to a 1000ml plastic beaker.  I've attached a photo of my setup.

  • Hello Jairo,

Since you haven't been able to reproduce the issue after reattaching it, my best guess is that something got in between the sensors and the beaker that was causing the strange behavior. Do you know if the capacitive reading returns the same values before and after you reattached the sensors? Also, just to clarify, did you attach the sensor to the beaker the same way both times?

    Best Regards,
