DRV5023-Q1: Device condition during or after electrical overstress

Part Number: DRV5023-Q1

Hello Team,

One of my customer would like to understand behavior of DRV5023AJQDBZRQ1 during and after electrical overstress. will the output get shorted to ground, remain floating or something else?

Regards,

Mahendra

  • Mahendra,

The output is an open drain output, so a short to VCC is unlikely, but the exact way Electrical Over Stress will manifest in the device may vary based on how the device is stressed. This makes it difficult to predict the exact end behavior, especially without information regarding the stress in question.  The severity and location of the stress will impact the path the electrical energy takes through the device which can determine whether a transistor is partially damaged or destroyed entirely.  When high energy stresses occur, metal fusing can occur which may result in either an open wire or short.
