TMCS1101: Frequency response characteristics

Part Number: TMCS1101

Hello team,
Could you share detailed info on the frequency response characteristics?

One of my customers is interested in TMCS1101 but have questions on its frequency response.
From the datasheet, the bandwidth is 80 kHz with -3dB. And compare with the gain, phase decreases very quickly. If it is second-order, it would be -90°delay with -6dB gain. But the datasheet shows phase delay of -90° when the gain is about -1.5dB at 50kHz.

Q1: Why does this device have such unusual frequency response? I assume it is related to the fact that it has discrete time sampling as mentioned in section 9.3.3.3, is it correct? Is there any other reason?
Q2: Also, I could not find the detailed info on the discrete time sampling feature/function. Is there any data you could share on this function?

Best regards,
Kurumi Hasegawa

  • Hello Kurumi,

Thanks for reaching out over the forum.

    1.  According to the data I have, which extends beyond the datasheet graph limits, it looks like this could be greater than a second-order filter.  Can you tell me what your customer intends to do that requires further understanding of the phase behavior?

    2.  If you look at section 9.3.3.4 of the datasheet, you will find some discussion about the integration cycle which has a period of roughly 4us.

  • Hello Patrick,

    Thank you for the reply.

It would contain some specific info on their system, so I'd like to continue this discussion via email.

    Best regards,
