TMP431: How to connect DXP and DXN when not using remote sensor

Hi Team,

My customer considers using TMP431 with not using remote sensor.
How to connect DXP and DXN in this case?
The datasheet shows two contents about it which is correct? Are both contents OK?
----------------------------------------------------
(datasheet page 14)
When not using the remote sensor with the TMP43x, the DXP and DXN inputs must be connected together to prevent meaningless fault warnings.

(datasheet page 33)
Tie the DXP pin to GND if the remote channel is not used and only the local temperature is measured.

My customer will set "(Configuration register 2) REN bit =0" in this case.

Yaita

  • Hi Yaita-San,

They are similar solutions, either way the TMP431 will read 0V at the DXP Pin and respond accordingly. However, I would recommend shorting the DXP and DXN pins (i.e. follow the page 14 recommendations) so that the DXN is not left floating.

Disabling the remote sensor bit (REN) is also correct in either case.
