DRV5032: PDF for FC versions

Part Number: DRV5032
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMAG5123

Hello,

I have 2 questions pertaining to the TI DRV-5032 Hall Effect Sensors. Spec sheet is attached.

  1. Probability Density Functions (pages 10 and 11) are listed for the AJ version of the part. There’s no entry for the FC versions.
Are the FC version parts subject to a similar threshold distribution at the FC thresholds?

  1. Threshold range (operation point) for FC version is listed as being between +/-1.5mT and +/-4.8mT with +/-3.0mT being typical. If a component initially checks out at +/-3.0mT, is it expected it could wander during its operational life? Could it approach the 4.8mT limit?

Thank you!

Adam

  • Hi Adam,

We recommend designing based on the min/max Brp/Bop specs instead of the PDF.  These min/max specs take into account any drift as well as device to device variations.

Also, we recently released the TMAG5123 Hall-Effect Switch device.  If you are looking for a more precise hall switch, this device may be of interest compared to the DRV5032.  Please note though that the TMAG5123 is an in-plane device, so it responds best to a different magnet orientation than the DRV5032. Figure 8-2 of the TMAG5123 datasheet shows the magnet orientation best sensed by the TMAG5123.
