TMCS1100: TMCS1100 insulation

Part Number: TMCS1100

Hello! Willing to use "TMCS1100" in a three phase 380Vac Motor circuit, as current sensor: I'm not quite sure if +-600V insulation of the device is enough.

TI says: ".......Inherent galvanic insulation provides a 600-V lifetime working voltage and 3-kVRMS basic isolation between the current path and circuitry"

But I'd like to get some opinion.

Thanks for any reply

  • Hello Luigi,

Thanks for considering to use Texas Instruments.  If you look at section 7.6 of the datasheet, you will find a table devoted to insulation specifications.  Here you can see the conditions which correspond to those voltage values that I presume you saw in the cover page description.  The 600V corresponds to more of a DC condition whereas 3000 corresponds to a transient condition.  What kind of transient voltages do you expect to see with your motor circuit?
