TMP451: About the different I2C slave address for TMP451A

Part Number: TMP451

Hi Team:

since TMP451 has one I2C slave address, if customer use three parts, so how to configure their I2C address? thanks!

*******************************************************************************************************************************************8

7.5.1.3 Serial Bus Address

To communicate with the TMP451 device, the master must first address slave devices using a slave address

byte. The slave address byte consists of seven address bits, and a direction bit indicating the intent of executing

a read or write operation. The TMP451 device has a device address of 4Ch (1001 100b). Additional factory programmed

device addresses are available upon request.

  • Hi Richard,

You're correct that the TMP451 has only one I2C address available. That note in the datasheet just indicates that we are capable of creating more addresses if the business case is large enough to justify it.

If the customer wants to include 3 TMP451s on their board, I would recommend they consider adding an I2C switch/multiplexer, or additional I2C channels from their MCU.

    Best Regards,
