LDC1614: Interface recommendation between Coil & LDC1614

Part Number: LDC1614

Hello, In My design I am going to make stack of Sensor coil PCB & another PCB on which LDC1614 resides. I am looking for Guidelines for connecting these sensor coil to LDC.

1) Is 2.54mm berg recommended in such case?

2) if cable is recommended, then which type of cable should I use?

3) is there any trace length limitation between sensor coil & LDC device?

4) To avoid crosstalk, 2D distance is recommended between sensor coil. But What about the traces running from two sensor coils to LDC1614? My sensor coil size is 46mm.

Regards,

Nitin

  • Hello Nitin,

If you choose to use wires for your sensor connection it is recommended to keep them as short as possible, so as to not introduce additional system error. You can connect the sensor to the input headers with an unshielded pair of twisted wires. If you do not need the additional length from wires, using Berg headers should be fine.

For the traces, set the trace width and trace space to the minimum that is permitted. This value is commonly between 0.1 mm and 0.15 mm. Avoid long traces between the sensor and the LDC.

To minimize crosstalk, the INAx and INBx traces should be run in parallel and close together (routed as differential pairs).

For additional layout recommendations, please see Section 10 of the LDC1614 datasheet and the LDC Sensor Design application note.

    Best regards,

    Nicole
