AWR1843: IWR1843: uniflash hex file

Hi,

When trying to flash .hex file through uniflash, it shows the following error. BTW,the SOP was been set to 101 flash mode. And the COM port has been set correctly.

Questions:

1.Is .hex file been supported by uniflash?
2.If no, how to flash .hex file to 1843?

You should be flashing the "pa_18xx_mss_demo.bin" file with Uniflash and not the .hex file.

Thanks Kyle, does that mean Uniflash can ONLY flash bin file?

We are trying to develop custom PCB with 1843 chip, and bin file does not contain the address information, so we prefer to use hex file. Do you know how to flash hex file to the flash?

Erin,

When using Uniflash with the radar EVMs (AWR1xxx), the supported file format is a binary file (*.bin).

Please refer to the this information from the Uniflash Quick Start Guide:

Supported file formats

When loading a file to FLASH or RAM, the following formats are supported: TI COFF, TI ELF, Intel Hex, Motorola S-Record, Tektronix Hex, TI-TXT, and binary.

However, the flash parts supported by the mmWave SDK are Spansion, Micron, and Macronix. Hex files are not supported for BOOST EVMs.

The binary files are capable of including an address offset as this is done in the metaimage files.

Please refer to the mmWave Image Creator User Guide that is included in the mmWave SDK. This is located in this file location:

C:\ti\mmwave_sdk_03_05_00_04\packages\scripts\ImageCreator

As you see, address locations are set based on the different parts of the metaimage. You can modify these images based on your specific flash part used in your custom PCB.
