HDC2010EVM: EVM and GUI write 0x57 to 0x0E register automatically

Hello Support team,

Customer is evaluating HDC2010 through HDC2010EVM. They found that when EVM inserts into laptop USB port, EVM write 0x57 to 0x0E address automatically. Is this normal behavior for EVM and GUI? They would like to prevent this write, do you have any way to prevent it?

Hi Koji,

Do you know if the customer has more than one EVM? If they do, can they confirm if they observe they same behavior.

They can also issue a POR and read the default registers to ensure none of the other registers are corrupted.

Thank you very much for your support. Yes, they have EVM and they try to send read command to HDC2010 on their board from EVM. When they start GUI, GUI seems to write 0x57 to 0x0E automatically, they would like to prevent. How should they use EVM and GUI?

Dear Koji -

That is the correct behavior for the GUI and this EVM. If they want to change the register settings, they can do so directly from either the configuration menu or the registers menu in the GUI.

Hello Josh-san,

Thank you for your support. They prevent GUI to write value to HDC2010 at initial startup automatically, they would like to read only. Could you tell me how to prevent automatic write at initial GUI startup? Page 20 shows manual update only.

The auto config of this EVM, with this GUI, at startup won't be changed. They can configure after plugging in and starting up GUI to what they want the device to do. If there are specific questions about bit settings or radio buttons, we can answer.

If they want custom behavior, would they be better off moving to a development platform?
