IWR6843ISK: high accuracy visualizer record data

Part Number: IWR6843ISK

Hi there,

I'm using IWR6843ISK standalone mode with High accuracy visualizer Gui (https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/4768107/High_Accuracy_Visualizer/ver/2.0.0/), I want to record the peak distances, and there is a record start button in the GUI. Is it the record for the peak distances and if yes, where the record file goes? There is no reaction when I clicked the button. Thank you.

  • Hi Bingkun

Thank you for pointing this out. It seems there is an error attributed to the 3-peak version of the visualizer. In the near term you can use the Version 1.2 of the High Accuracy Visualizer (Link).

  • Hi Akash,

Thanks a lot for your reply. Two more thing is that when I m measuring the metal pad(130mm*130mm) or table or whatever, the data is always like around 10cm difference. And when I m placing an adult head phantom in front of the sensor when using version 1.2(only one point is display), it could not sense the phantom. here is my config file:

    flushCfg
    dfeDataOutputMode 1
    channelCfg 1 1 0
    adcCfg 2 1
    adcbufCfg 0 1 1 1
    profileCfg 0 60 7 7 114.4 0 0 33.71 1 512 5000 0 0 48
    chirpCfg 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1
    frameCfg 0 0 10 0 500 1 0
    lowPower 0 0
    guiMonitor 1 1 0 0 0 1
    RangeLimitCfg 2 1 0.0 1.0
    sensorStart

Could you please give me some hands here? Thanks so much.

  • Hi Bingkun

I cannot give you much insight with config spec alone. Can you provide some data and pictures on what you are seeing?

    Regards,

    AG

  • Hi Akash,

    Thanks for your support.

Here is the tests, the metal pad 130mm*130mm is placed in right front of sensor and the distance from metal pad to mmWave chip center is about 32cm, but the data measured by mmWave chip is about 43cm. The setup is about 70cm height from floor.

    For the phantom,

the setup is about 35cm away from the sensor chip but in version 1.2, there is no data for the phantom, and with version 2.0, there is one object detected at around 45cm.

Please share your suggestion for me. Thanks a lot.

    BRs,

    Bingkun

  • Hi Bingkun

Is the 11 cm error repeatable at further distances? How about closer distances?

Can you confirm if you are using the rangeLimitCfg feature? It is discussed as below in the User Guide.

  • Hi Gondalia,

Yes, it is repeatable, wherever in the limit range, it always 11cm error. The rangeLimitCfg is used as the config I shared before which is setting between 0m to 1.0m. However, I changed the limit between 0.2m to 0.5m. The error is still there. So I am wondering if there is any calibration function or why the error happens. Thank you.
