LMT87: Max. operating voltage out range (temperature)

Part Number: LMT87

Hi,

I am Yonghee Lee and working for LG innotek as a software engineer in motor control.

I am supposed to use LMT87 as a temperature sensor and I would like you to tell me the real maximum operating range of LMT87.

According to the LMT87 transfer function, the range of operation is from -50 to 150, or from 538mV to 3277mV when it comes to accuracy.

I am wondering if the sensor keeps working on even when voltage out is out of the maximum range shown in transfer function,

In addition, I want to know the real maximum range of the temperature and voltage out that can be measured regardless of transfer function in the datasheet.

Please let me know if you can and feel free to leave the comment about this question.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Yonghee Lee

  • Hi Yonghee,

The LMT87-Q1 has a voltage gain of –13.6 mV/°C. As expressed in section 8.3.1 of the datasheet, this is a typical value and varies slightly especially at the temperature extremes of -50 and 150°C. When it comes to accuracy along with other datasheet specs, there's are guaranteed and characterized within this -50 to 150°C operating temperature range. Any temperature range outside of -50°C or 150°C we cannot guarantee functionality or performance of the LMT87-Q1.

That being said, it is likely that you will continue to see a similar linear output outside of the temperature range extremes. But, the real maximum range of the temperature and voltage about that we can comment on is that of our recommended temperature range being -50 to 150°C.

    Thanks,

    Jalen
