Hello Sreenath,

The pin 4 of the TCAN1042GVDRQ1 the transmit out pin of the CAN PHY, this is the pin over which the data received over the CAN bus is sent to the AWR device. If you want to send some data from the AWR device to the CAN phy and over the CAN bus, you need to send that data to the pin 1 of the CAN PHY.

According to the schematic and the reference design, the design is for getting Object data over CAN. So i have followed the steps as per the data sheet and loaded the very same program that is mentioned. the schematic design is also the same as per your reference design. So if it is like you said in the above statement. The reference design will not give CAN output data.The above design is from the reference design. In both the cases the CANFD RX is coming from AWR device into the CAN transceiver. I am receiving data pulse on the 4th pin. Can you please check the reference design?

Hello Sreenath,

In the reference design the data from the AWR device is sent out on the CAN_FD1_TX pin and it connects to the pin 1 of the CAN PHY. This data is what is sent out on the CAN BUS.

Hi Vivek,

I have flashed the bin file for object data over can program from the automotive tool box on the board which we have designed using the reference design that I mentioned above. I was able to receive the data via USB but, the using the TCAN IC  I wasn't able to receive any  data. I checked the pins of the transceiver as well , no pulse of data. Do you know any possible reasons for that?

The board as per the reference design is custom built for object data over CAN.

Hello Sreenath,

Have you tried running the TIrex application on the AWR1642BOOST board? It has been development for the AWR1642BOOST board, not the TIDA design. You will have to modify the pinmuxing options based on the pin mapping you have on your board.

 Actually i am getting data from TI AWR1642 boost evm but the data is not continuous it stops after a sec. any idea why this is happening?

I see you have posted similar issue some time back. Didn't it resolve for AWR1642BOOST?

Now for you board as Vivek mentioned, you need to check if you have connected same pin what application is using for CAN data transfer

In AWR1642BOOST EVM, AR_MISO1 and AR_MOSI1 pins are connected to CAN PHY

Make sure that you have same pin connected on your custom board. If you are using different Pins for CAN then you need to do the pinmux with the application (mss_main.c : Can_Initialize function)

        Yes i have already raised a similar issue . I will attach the schematic part which contains the CAN signals to CAN Phy. form the reference design that i have followed. You can see the signals are SPIB_CLK and SPIB_CS.

Hi vivek,

I have tried the code on both the TI AWR1642 boost as well as my board which is based on the already mentioned design (TIDA02004). The data sheet of TIDA02004 say the procedure of flashing the same Object data over CAN code into that board and it also shows the result of scatter plot as well as the data on the CAN GUI. There is no mention about pinmux or anything.

Also when i tried it in the AWr1642 boost evm, the result is also not proper, the data i am getting is not continuous and also no scatter plot as well.

Are you using the visualizer mentioned in the Tirex user guide?  labs\ lab0005-Object-Data-Over-CAN\odoc-host\gui\gui_exe\MMWAVECANVISUALIZER.exe

Are you using the PCAN USBFD as mentioned in the Tirex user guide?

Yes   i am using the prebuild binary for AWR1642 board as well as the TIDA02004 design.

Yes i am using the visualizer as well as the PCAN USB FD.

Hello Sreenath,

What exactly is the observation when you run it with AWR1742BOOST board? 

Please dont mention the results with TIDA02004 board since this application is not expected to work with that board.

I will get data in the visualizer for like 1 or 2 seconds the no data and no plot as well.

Now about the TIDA 02004 in the document regrading that design, it says to flash the same application, that's why i  mention it every time.

Hi Sreenath,

CAN is synchronous protocol, if external CAN/CANFD receiver is not able to read the data and timed out then device may stop sending data.

So you need to confirm if external CAN/CANFD receiver reads data without any error.

And I remember this issue you were facing with your custom board not with AWR BOOST EVM, right??

I am facing this issue in both the devices. 

By external CAN FD did you mean P CAN USB FD?

I am attaching a screenshot of CAN visualizer UI when connected  with AWR1642 boost  with PCAN USB FD

Is it to possible to check this issue while debugging object data over CAN firmware?

You can use UART to print the debug data. In the application Can_Transmit_Schedule function is being used to send the object data.

Try to include CLI_write function to dump the required debug data over UART.
