LDC1614: LDC1614 & LDC1314 differences?

Part Number: LDC1614
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1314, , LDCTOUCHCOMCOILEVM, LDCCOILEVM

Hi Team,

Can you have a look at below customer questions please?

We are interested in LDC1614 and LDC1314. Do we have to take a look at the LDC1314 or can we simply calculate the 28 bits of LDC614 down to the 12 bits of the 1314 and the rest doesn't differ?
There are also two different sets of coils (LDCCOILEVM and LDCTOUCHCOMCOILEVM), do I need both of them? The latter is not easy to get at the moment.

Thank you,

Franz

  • Hi Franz,

In addition to the different output measurement resolutions, the LDC1314 has a maximum sample rate of 13.3 kSPS and the LDC1614 has a maximum sample rate of 4.1 kSPS.

Regarding the LDCTOUCHCOILEVM and LDCCOILEVM, it depends on what would be most helpful for the application. The LDCTOUCHCOILEVM has 5 sets of 4 coils each. The LDCCOILEVM has 19 unique types of PCB coils, so you cannot make a set of 4 identical coils with only 1 LDCCOILEVM. If you will need 4 identical coils I would recommend the LDCTOUCHCOILEVM, or multiple LDCCOILEVM boards. Additionally, the corresponding user’s guides should provide more details on the parameters of the individual sensor coils.

    Best regards,

    Nicole
