LMT86: LMT86LP is sense Temperature

Hi,

    We need  air temperature sensor,by using sensors  Monitor the Temperature  of  Refrigerator ,So I am Planing to use LMT86,The Temperature range to monitor -30C to 70C operating volatge is 3.3V,Sensor is mounting on one board and controller board is Placing  down of the  Refrigerator so we have to interface two boards  with wire minimum 1 meter max 1.5 Meter, Sensor output type analog,Any extra circuit is neccesary for analog circuit like amplifier,Filter.

   Suggest me LMT86 is suitable for my application or any alternate part number suggest quantity is 100k.

  • Hello Naga,

    For such an application, I would suggest using TMP107 which allows for daisy chaining of up to 32 devices. This will allow your application to scale rapidly and without having to worry about noise immunity issues arising from use of an analog output.

                                            TMP107 Availble package is soic ,VSSOP,Wson , i need To-92 package why means i don't want to use any encloser to the Chip.IF TO-92 package i will Expose the Die pad to the air remaining leads i will cover with sleve,so suggest me that type of package sensor cost is lessthan 100k 0.25$

    Hello Naga,

    We have the TMP61 which is available in X1SON package right now and has a LPG package planned. You can easily encapsulate the same in thermal mold compound and pricing is much less than $0.25

    Hello Naga,

    Analog sensors over long traces tend to increase the current consumption as the load they drive increases. To offset that you may need an OPAMP to drive long cables. Secondly, remember that this is Analog signal. As the cables cool and heat up, their characteristics also changes . So along with noise, over a long term it may show erroneous results even though the the sensor is fine.
    The reason for suggesting a TMP61 instead of LMT86 is that the cost of the sensor is much lower for the TMP61 and hence can help offset the cost of a driver OP-AMP.
