TMP513 local temp. error

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP513, TMP275, TMP112

Hi,

I used the TMP513 in my design, and currently I check the function of my products in the chamber.

I've tested at -20, -10, 0, 25 and 40 degree (V+=5V), but I found the local temp. error will be 2~3 degree between 2 TMP513 sensor.

I saw the datasheet for this spec. it shows the max. error will be +/- 2.5C.

Is it normal ? or How can I improve and calibrate  the accuracy to  +/- 1C accuracy?

I look forward to your reply.

Mac.

  • Hi Mac,

    What you saw is normal.

Over the entire temperature range, - 40⁰C to 125⁰C, the spec is +/- 2.5⁰C. Worst case, you would expect to see a difference between -5.0⁰C and +5.0⁰C when comparing a population of TMP513 devices. Of course typically the difference is much smaller, especially for reduced temperature range, for example, over 15⁰C to 85⁰C, the difference should be between -2⁰C and +2⁰C, with typical value of 0.5⁰C.

There is no calibration built in the device for the local temperature sensors. However, if it is an option, you can do individual device calibration with another accurate temperature sensing device such as RTD and take into account the temperature error when reporting future measurements.

We also have higher accuracy local temperature sensors that you may consider adding to your system, such as TMP275 and TMP112:
