LDC1612EVM Not Connected - Attaches as a USB Input Device

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1612EVM, LDC1612

After installing the "LDC13xx16xx EVM GUI" software on a Windows 7 machine, I plugged in the LDC1612EVM.  The software does not connect.  After searching the device manager, I found that the LDC1612EVM was connecting as a "USB Input Device".  I tried to update the driver manually by right clicking the device and selecting "Properties>Driver>Update Driver".  I browsed to the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments LDC13xx16xx EVM GUI\driver" directory but after selecting "Next" Windows says the "USB Input Device" is the best driver.

Then I searched the forums and found that the same story existed for LDC1000 and that flashing the firmware helped for the LDC1000 (with the respective GUI and firmware version).

But in my case the same approach (flashing the LDC1612 firmware) did not help. The PC still attaches the EVM as USB Input device.

  • Hello Yilin,
the EVM should show up as 'EVM (COMxx)' in the Windows 7 device manager. You should be able to manually over-write the 'USB Input Device' by right-clicking on it, then 'update driver software' --> Browse --> Let me pick --> Have Disk --> C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments LDC13xx16xx EVM GUI\driver\evm.inf.
This method is slightly different from the method that you described. Please let me know if you are successful in updating the driver in this way.
  • I also tried that yesterday. The PC then tells me "The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems."

  • Problem solved. It seems that the problem was related to my PC and some strange issue with a telephone software... The world is full of coincidences ...
  • An interesting observation! I am glad that the EVM is working for you. Let us know if you need any more assistance.
