Voxel Viewer (OPT8241) - Exporting to Point Cloud

I read through the TI Voxel Viewer QSG Sept 2015 but did not find guidance on exporting to point clouds.  I can save vxl files but have no luck exporting RAW streams.  When I select exporting from RAW streams via the File pull down menu I get a prompt for voxel and raw stream file names.  I'm not sure what file sources to use in this case.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

  • Hi Paul,

    Maybe you should try this.

1, right-click the drop down menu of the dialog right in the center of the voxel viewer. Then, select point cloud by left-clicking it.

2, right-click the point cloud image anywhere within the image after you finish step 1. Select export point cloud data and choose the directory where you would like the file to be saved.

  • This is perfect!  Thank you Justin.

  • Hello, I have problem to export Point Cloud too.

I have installed Voxel Viewer and tried to display Point Cloud.

But when I changed to Point Cloud display mode (by right click on the display window and drop down menu), the display suddenly disappear as shown in the attached image. My hardware is OPT8241-CDK-EVM. I have installed Voxel Viewer (V0.7.0).

    What could be the porblem?

    Thanks

  • I've come across this issue several times, but I don't know how to fix it exactly.

You can try to restart your PC, restart the CDK board and restart the voxel viewer. If thess actions still couldn't fix the problem, then I suggest you contact TI technical team for help.

  • Hi Thomas,

We use opengl to render the point cloud view. On some computers, the installed opengl driver version is too old and/or some features that we use are not fully supported. If we detect this condition, we disable the point cloud view by default. There should be a warning about the opengl version in your logs.

By default, VoxelViewer starts with the Point Cloud in the center of the screen. If it doesn't do that, the opengl driver version is the most likely suspect.

opengl drivers are part of the drivers for your graphics card. Could you please check and see if you have updated drivers for your graphics card, or alternatively try another computer?

    Best Regards,
    Anand
  • Hi Anand,
Thanks after updating my OpenGL version to 4.4. Then I can view PointCloud.
    Regards,
