Question regarding humidity offset

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HDC1080, HDC1000, TIDA-00488, CC1310

Hi,

I am testing HDC1080 and found that there is some offset regarding humidity measurement.

Before testing HDC1080, I was using HDC1000 for my board.

HDC1000 showed about 15% offset and found some complaint on E2E.

And TI recommended using HDC1080. But HDC1080 showed the similar offset as HDC1000.

I am a little upset with the offset. What am I wrong with my board?

Could you recommend the other chip for humid/temp?

What is the conversion time for humidity and temperature at the same time?

I am using the default resolution.

I find 8ms is used in your code. But on E2E TI is referring to 40ms.

Could you recommend the time for conversion?

Also I am concerned about my code.

I am using CC1310 for wireless MCU and code based on TIDA-00488.

TIDA-00488 is based on HDC1000. I think there is no code difference between HDC1000 and HDC1080.

I am sorry for too easy question. I need double check.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Baeyoung,
No, this is not expected: the HDC1080 uses a new sensing element that solves the offset issues of HDC1000/1008/1050. If you can give us more details about your board (PCB layout, register configurations, test results for both T and RH), we could try to figure out if there is any problems.
Regarding the conversion time, in default conditions (14 bits resolution), the typ. RH conversion time is 6.50msec, and the typ. T conversion time is 6.35msec. So for both T and RH, you need to wait about 12msec for typ. and 20msec for max.
Finally, I confirm that there is no code difference between HDC1000 and HDC1080.
Please Let me know should you have any doubts or need further information.
    Best regards,

  • Hi Carmine,

    Thanks for your prompt answer.

I am talking to HW engineer and checking HW design.

    I will come soon.
