LM26CIM5- Ordering samples for a particular trip point

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM26NV, LM26, LM56

The datasheet for the LM26NV www.ti.com/.../lm26nv.pdf says that the part is factory programmable for any temperature from -55C to 110C in 1 degree C increments. It also says that you can specify one of several outputs. This is all specified using the last 3 letters of the part number.

I need the following part numbers:

  • LM26CIM5-hnh  (4 deg C / push pull / US)
  • LM26CIM5-hth  (8 deg C / push pull / US)

Questions:

  • Can order the above parts with the numbers I have derived from the tables in the datasheet on page 4 of: www.ti.com/.../lm26nv.pdf
  • Can I get samples of these?
    • How do I get samples? I can't figure it out on the TI website and customer support has no idea.

  • Hi Sani,

I feel your frustration. I'm sorry that you are unhappy with the situation. The only orderable part numbers is available in the datasheet as well as on this link below where you can request sample.

    www.ti.com/.../samplebuy

Unfortunately, the part numbers you provided are more likely a new trim since it is not listed. The datasheet is provided a template in section 11.4 page 14 where customer can decode a part number for a new configuration.

If you can provide me what your application is, I might able to help you with different temperature switches. Let me discuss this with my team if there is something we can do about this. I'll get back to you. Please share your application and business case via my email aaron.heng@ti.com, let take this offline.

  • Aaron,

Thank you very much for your kind reply and your offer to help.

Our application is a backpack specifically designed for resort skiing. It has a heated compartment for where a phone may be kept warm and charged. Our requirement is a thermostat that will turn on a MOSFET providing power to the heater when the temperature falls below 8 degrees C and turns off when temperature exceeds a hysteresis setting above that temperature.

Please let me know what you suggest.

    Thanks,

    Sani
  • Aaron,

    Also to be clear.

My understanding from page 14 of the datasheet was that the LM26 could be trimmed with any temperature setting required a customer.

But actually this is not the case. Only the temperature settings in www.ti.com/.../samplebuy are available? Is that correct?

    Thanks,

    Sani
  • Hi Sani,

Yes you are absolutely correct. The LM26 can be trimmed to any temperature from customer's requirement only if the volume is large enough to justify for the resource development.

Based on your application, you might want to check LM56 device where you can define two thresholds in one single chip instead of two LM26 devices, but the only issue is the output pin is open drain not a push pull.

    Hope this helps.
