IWR1443BOOST: How to load config generated by mmWave Sensing Estimator

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST

Hi, Gents

I would like to evaluate the ablity of mmWave 1443 with 1443Boost.

We would like to detect a high speed moving object in up to 70 meters, the mmWave Demo Visualizer can only detect up to 50m far away and the speed doesn't fit the requirement either.

By using mmWave sensing estimator, a configuration file has been generated,

Q1: how to upload it to EVM? Is there any materials describing this?

I have searhced the forum and got this:  https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensor/mmwave_sensors/f/1023/t/598631?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=sensing%20estimator got. Maybe that is because I am new to this area, sorry.

Q2: can I get the source code for the mmWave Demo visualizer, I mean the gui software, so I think some little modification can be made to fullfill my requirement.

Super thanks.

  • Hello Peter,
If you have generated a configuration file based on your requirements you can send it to the IWR device using the mmwave demo visualizer. In the "Plots" tab there is a option called "load configuration from PC and send". When you click on that it will allow you to pick the configuration file from the PC.

  • Hi, Vivek

    Thanks for your reply.

But the file generated from mmwave sensing estimator is .jason, the console window in mmwave demo visualizer shows the belowing error information when I tried to "load configuration from PC and send":

    "mmwDemo:/>{

'{' is not recognized as a CLI command"

    Any ideas?

The content of cfg file generated from mmwave demo visualizer and the content of jason file generated from mmwave sensing estimator is quite different.

  • Hello Peter,
Presently there is no automatic way of generating the configuration file compatible with the mmw demo application. Based on the values got from the sensing estimator you would have to manually edit the values in the config file for the mmwave demo. To help map the parameters in the config file you can refer to the description of the values in the SDK user guide.
The main parameters you get from the sensing estimator are related to the chirpCfg , ProfileCfg and frameCfg parameters.
