Hi,

Could you let me know the reason why you place the antennas which don't be fed beside the Rx antennas at AWR1642 Boost?

Is it better if we place them as well as your design?

    Hello Atsu,
    The reason to put the "dummy" antennas on both sides of the actual RX antennas is to make every antenna symmetric (all antennas will have a other antenna patch on both sides). This helps reduce the gain mismatch and phase mismatch between the 4 RX chains.
    Ofcourse this is not mandatory to do, it would depend on your requirements.

    I'm sorry for my late responce due to a problem on signing in.

    I understand your intention.
    I believe to put 'dummy' must be a good idea.
    But this seems curious a bit.
    That's why the feed line looks to be connected to the ground in your design.
    I wonder if it might be terminated by 50 ohm for symmetry,because the other antennas
    are connected to the RF port which have 50 ohm of impedance during operation.
    May i have your comment on this?

    Hello Atsu,
    You maybe right, 50 ohms load might give a better match between antennas. But even with GND termination we got reasonable matching. Designing a 50 ohms load at 80Ghz might also be a challenge on the PCB.
