AWR1443: Interfaces of AWR1443 and AWR1642

Part Number: AWR1443
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642,

Hi,

I have some doubts on the interface capabilities of AWR1443 and AWR1642, as below.

AWR1443:

1. Is there any interface to collect the radar raw data or the processed FFT data from the chip?. The datasheet doesn't show any high speed interface like CSI2 or LVDS present in this chip. But then it talks about 6 general purpose ADC ports. I assume the UART/SPI can't transfer my raw data as the data size and data rate will be higher.

2. What is the ADC ports used for.

AWR1642

3. The datasheet mentions that 2 LVDS lanes in AWR1642 is for Raw ADC data and debug instrumentation. I have seen the demo program which helps in continuous streaming of raw ADC data through LVDS. What I require is the FFT processed data. I don't want the point cloud (as in mmwave demo), but want the FFT data (same size as raw data). This can be sent out only through LVDS. So I am worried whether the DSS can be configured to send data from L3 memory to CBUFF and then through LVDS, instead of taking data from ADC buffer.

Thank you in advance,

  • Hello Snathana,
    1) AWR1443 does not presently support high speed interfaces for ADC data transfer. For debug/instrumentation it does have the LVDS interface to get the ADC data out, but this is presently not planned to be supported for production product.

    2) The general purpose ADCs can be used for monitoring analog signals/voltages or analog signals from some on board sensors , for example.

    3) In case of AWR1642 the EDMA could be configured to take the data from the L3 memory to the CBUFF. We do not have a ready example for the same but you could look at the TRM to program the EDMA to do this.

    Regards,
