AWR1243: Errata ANA#06 Return Loss Measurement

Hi Experts,

Regarding the errata www.ti.com/lit/swrz071 ANA#06, we believe that the Return Loss must be worst case in the range of 76 to 81GHz,

We would like to know the Return Loss when the rage is from 76 to 77GHZ.

Also, could you please share the data which shows frequency vs. the Return Loss?

It is nice to have if S-parameter file which is citifile or Toshstone type could be shared.

Hi Sugawara-san,

I am attaching two Touchstone files that are the typical impedances of the RX and TX ports. These are measured using a probe setup with the reference plane on the RO3003 PCB transmission line at the edge of the package. The corresponding return losses are shown in red in the below figures:

Hi Brain,
I have a question.
The errata ANA#06 says that ANA#06 Return Loss Measurement on TX: S11 < –9dB, RX S11 < –6.5dB (Excepted Value of < –10dB)
The graph on this sled seems very close to target spec.
How can I understand TX:S11 < -9dB and RX:S11 < -6.5dB?

Hi Hitoshi-san,

Unfortunately, I wasn't very clear in my earlier response. The graph corresponds to the update that is expected with the next silicon revision, after the fix. This was measured from a lookahead experiment and hence has better performance than indicated from the errata. When designing new boards for new parts, please use these S1P files as the nominal impedances.
