TMP116EVM: GUI won't launch. Missing LabVIEW Runtime Engine but have installed all from 2013-2017 :(

Part Number: TMP116EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP116

Hi,

As mentioned in the title I'm trying to get the GUI for the evaluation board up and running. But when installing the GUI software it won't launch afterwards yielding the error: "Unable to locate the LabVIEW Run-time Engine"

It goes on to state that i need the 2016 version of the SW. During the installation i check the 'install labVIEW runtime engine", but it states that it cannot find/contact the URL. I then install it manually as described in the readme file after installation. I've even installed the 2016 (stated in the error message) and 2014 (directed by the link in the readme).

I have now installed all versions from 2013-2017 and can se them in the NI MAX. So why isn't it working? Do i need to point to the LabVIEW Runtime engine installation in some way or?

Any ideas on what to try next?

  • Hi Mathias,

I'm sorry to hear that you have to go through all this troubles. TMP116 GUI is developed and compiled with LabVIEW 2016 Patch f2. For first-time installation, ensure the LabVIEW Run Time Engine is listed and checked in the summary screen. TMP116EVM GUI is required LabVIEW 2016 f2 runtime engine for proper
operation. It may take some time to download the LabVIEW Run Time Engine on the first installation. You may be prompted to download the file when installing the software for the first time, especially if the LabVIEW Run Time Engine checkbox is checked. I tried the link provided in this thread from the installation software. It is working fine. Could you please make sure that you have firewall disable or virus scan preventing from downloading the executible file? Below is the link to download the LabVIEW 2016 patch f2. You might want to uninstall other runtime engine.

Hope this helps. Let me know you can't resolve the issue.

  • Hi,

I did as you suggested in the initial installation (and the follwing couple of un- and re-installs), except I did not disable firewalls and virus scan.
NI MAX tells me that I already have the version of LabVIEW runtime engine which you specify, so I'm not sure re-redownloading it would solve anything :)

But best of all my problem is solved.

We had a license for the full LabVIEW (among other things) laying around so I installed the full thing and now its working.

I would gladly try your suggestions, but it's har now when it is up and running. But thank you very much for taking your time to help me, and i really hope this will help others in the future :)

  • Hi Mathias,

I'm glad that you resolved the issue. If you encounter the issue, please let me know.

    Take care,

    Aaron

  • Will do, thank you :)
