IWR1642BOOST: Which Lab sample in mmwave_industrial_toolbox_2_2_0 could be run on Linux environment?

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443BOOST,

Hi Team,

We have IWR1642BOOST and IWR1443BOOST.

Which Lab sample in mmwave_industrial_toolbox_2_2_0 could be run on Linux environment?

Thanks and Best regards,

Kuerbis

  • Hi Keurbis,

I do believe that all of them can. Are you asking about Linux as opposed to TI-RTOS?

    Cheers,
    Akash
  • Hi Keurbis, Akash

The above statement is not correct.

The following labs need Linux to work so they already run under Linux:
    1. ROS Point Cloud Visualizer
    2. Autonomous Robotics with ROS for mmWave

Apart from the above, I believe the labs which use the Chrome browser for visualization should run under Linux, provided TI provides the browser extension and TI Cloud Agents for Chrome under Linux. I will check this and get back to you. If we do have the required infrastructure support for Chrome under Linux, the following labs should work on a Linux PC.

    3. mmWave Demo SDK - 14xx
    4. mmWave Demo SDK - 16xx
    5. High Accuracy Range measurement - 14xx
    6. High Accuracy Range measurement - 16xx

    Thanks

  • Hi Keurbis,

I verified that the mmWave SDK Demo labs work on Chrome under Linux. I tested on Ubuntu 16.04. So the labs listed above (items 3 to 6) should work under Linux as they all use a browser based GUI. Please note that you'll need to install the TI Cloud Agent in your browser.

    1. Open the mmWaveDemoVisualizer in your browser and download TICloudAgent (filename ticloudagent.run).

    2. Execute the file downloaded above to install TI Cloud Agent. If you see the following error message, please open the Wiki link provided in the error message and follow the instructions given under the troubleshooting section to create a soft-link for libudev.so.0 as shown below. The explanation for this is provided in the troubleshooting section: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/TI_Cloud_Agent#Linux_Library_Dependencies

    cd /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/

    sudo ln -sf libudev.so.1 libudev.so.0

    3. Re-run the installer after creating the soft-link as mentioned above to install TI Cloud Agent.

    Thanks
