LM75B: Conversion Time

Part Number: LM75B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP175, TMP275, TMP75, TMP1075, LM75A, TMP75C, TMP75B

I need to use LM75B for continuous access of time less than 300 ms, will this really interrupts the conversion process?

I discover that the ADC conversion section is totally independent from the I2C bus section, so I assume not preventing the device from updating the Temp register with the new conversion result.

  • Hi Lok,

Thank you for reaching out to us. LM75B is a long-time released device. Unfortunately, I couldn't find information for this device since all designers are no longer with us. However, the LM75A is very similar to LM75B, and I reviewed the chars data. The maximum conversion time is 130ms. You can read the temperature prior the conversion time, but the temperature result will be retained the previous temperature converstion until the next conversion is completed. Please see the following links below for more information on differences between the LM75A, B, and C. You might want to look into other devices such as TMP75, TMP75B, TMP75C, TMP175, TMP275, and TMP1075.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have further questions.

  • Hi Lok,

I assume you're asking about Note 5 on Page 5 of LM75 datasheet. This note describes the behavior you're asking about.

If you need more frequent updates to temperature, you should consider using TMP75B instead. The conversion time for that product is 27ms.

    Thanks,
