AWR1642: About ESM

Hello champion,
When I am reading the TRM (swru520), I am confused about ESM module introduction in section 27.2. It is said that all error event are divided into 3 groups (64 events for group 1, 32 events for group 2, 32 events for group 3).

Where can I find the exact meaning of each error event in AWR1642?
In register map, we can find SR1, SR2, SR3, SR4, SR7 numbering. What is the mapping of SRx to the error event in group x?

Hi Adam,

A1: You can refer to "1.3.12 Error Signaling Module (MSS_ESM)" in the TRM for the MSS_ESM mapping and the details of the ESM errors.
A2: The ESM module has error flags for each error channel. The error status registers ESMSR1, ESMSR4,
ESMSR2, ESMSR3, ESMSR7 provide status information on a pending error of Group1 (Channel 0-31), Group1
(Channel 32-63), Group1 (Channel 64-95), Group2, and Group3, respectively. This information is available in the "27.2.2 Module Operation" for the ESM Section in TRM.

Hi Raghu,
I checked the datasheet and code, for ESM group1, there are only 64 events. The mapping is ESMSR1, ESMSR4,
ESMSR2, ESMSR3 for Group1 (Channel 0-31), Group1(Channel 32-63), Group2, and Group3.
What is the usage of ESMSR7?
I see there is also ESM event for DSS with differnt events. What is the difference between DSS_ESM and MSS_ESM?

Adam,

The ESMSR7 is at the moment is not used and it is mostly reserved for future use.

The IP wise both the DSS and MSS ESM are same. However, the DSS ESM event are different from the MSS ESM event.
