AWR1642BOOST: Complex 1x and Complex 2x Modes

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST

Hi,

What is the difference between the Complex 1x and Complex 2x modes? Which mode should generally be preferred?

Many Thanks

  • Hi,

Complex 2x mode, both Imaginary and Real IF spectrum is filtered and sent to ADC, so If Sampling rate is X, ADC data would include frequency spectrum from -X/2 to X/2.

Where as in Complex 1x mode, Only Real IF Spectrum is filtered and sent to ADC, so If Sampling rate is X, ADC data would include frequency spectrum from 0 to X.

So for given sampling rate, complex 1x provides twice the useful IF frequency and eventually Max Range. But Image band, contains noise and Interference signal which is not available in complex 1x.

If you need Interference information in complex 1x mode, this can be provided by Chirp Quality (CQ) data using Monitoring API.

Given above, recommendation is to use Complex 1x.

    Kaushal
