AWR1243: Radar Studio/ mmwave Studio Application fails to launch after installing all the support files

Part Number: AWR1243

Hello,

I am trying to read data from AWR1243 using RadarStudio. I have connected all the hardware correctly (AWR1243BOOST+DEVPACK+TSW1400) and I am following the instruction given in the "RadarStudio's UserGuide.pdf". However, I am not able to open the Radar Studio Application as it is throwing a "Object Reference not set to an instance of an Object" error.  The same error is being thrown when I try to open "mmwave studio" application as well. I am using Windows 10 with 64 bit operating system. I tried uninstalling HSDC Pro and reinstalled it and then tried opening Radar Studio GUI. But still it gives me the same error. Could anyone help me on this? What can I do to rectify this issue?

  • Nishant,

Do you have the MATLAB runtime installed? You need to have version 8.5.1 (32-bit) installed in order to run Radar Studio and mmWave Studio.

  • Hello Kyle,

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have installed the MATLAB runtime (32-bit) in "C:\Program Files (x86)\MATLAB\MATLAB Runtime" Path in my PC. Is there any other specific location that I need to install for this MATLAB runtime application? Also, could you tell me what do I need to do after installation of the run-time file? I am getting the same error again.

    Best Regards,

    Nishant

  • Nishant,

    Have you tried the following:

    - Uninstall HSDC Pro
    - Install it again while TSW1400 board is connected through USB
    - Copy TSW1400_IID_Lookup.csv from mmwave_dfp_<ver> \rf_eval\radarstudio\HSDCProFiles to ‘1400 details\’ folder in the HSDCPro installation
    - Re-launch the Radar Studio GUI

Also you can try this additional step as well:

    - Delete the RSTD folder in C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming

    Regards,
    Kyle
  • Hello Kyle,

Thank you for your suggestion. I had tried uninstalling and installing the HSDC Pro. It still didn't work. However, the last part of your suggestion worked for me. I deleted the RSTD Folder from the given path and now the Radar Studio application is working. Thank you!

    Best Regards,
    Nishant
