AWR1642? AWR1443? or AWR1243?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642, AWR1243, AWR1642BOOST

I am making a collision avoidance system and install it in my car. What mmwave sensor are recommended to use?

  • Zuedmar,

This depends on how may sensors you want to install in your car and where. If you are looking to use a single mmWave device, I would recommend the AWR1642 as it provides you with a DSP to implement your collision avoidance processing chain.

If you are looking to implement multiple sensors in a radar array, I would recommend the AWR1243. This device can be cascaded but also requires an external processor.

The AWR1243 functions strictly as a front end device while the AWR1642 can function as a standalone device.

For initial development, I would recommend starting with the AWR1642BOOST EVM, which you can find here: www.ti.com/.../AWR1642BOOST
